Elis Gjoni
About
Elis Gjoni was born in 1988 in Puka and later moved to Tirana, Albania, where he completed his studies at the Artistic Liceum “Jordan Misja.” In 2009, he pursued further education at the Academy of Fine Arts (now the University of the Arts), graduating in 2014 with a major in Atelier of Multimedia. Throughout his academic journey, Elis contributed to theater, short films, workshops, documentaries, and television, and participated in exhibitions both locally and internationally.
Specializing in video art and installations, Elis experiments with expressions, emotions, and mechanical movements through electricity. He transforms everyday objects into subjects that seemingly self-confess, drawing heavily on his personal biography and instinct. His minimalist approach brings value to previously overlooked objects, giving them new meaning through movement and concept. Experiences from building houses to traveling and filmmaking deeply influence his artistic process.
For over nine years, Elis has been developing and updating his art in the USA, refining his distinctive language in video and installation art. His work delves into spaces where nothing seems to exist, uncovering new possibilities.

Elis's work has been exhibited in both national and international venues, including FAP Gallery (Tirana, Albania), N'shpi (Tirana, Albania), Animart (Monodendri, Greece), XXL National Experimental Theater (Tirana, Albania), Yanni Ricos (Corfu, Greece), Contemporary Art Center (New Orleans, U.S.A.), Tirana Open (Tirana, Albania), Volkstheater (Vienna, Austria), Art Walk (New Hampshire, U.S.A.), Advancing Art & Design (New York, U.S.A.), TIFF (Tirana, Albania), The Uncertainty Principle at FPAC Gallery (Boston, U.S.A.), Albania Film Week (New York, U.S.A.), Filmapalooza (New Mexico, U.S.A.), Fort Point Arts Community (Boston, U.S.A.), Open Studio Public Art at FPAC (Boston, U.S.A.), and The Alternative Art Space of Tirana (Tirana, Albania), Fort Point Art (Boston U.S.A.), TIVA Award, Tirana International Video Art Festival.
